LL 152 Gas Inspection

Local Law 152 mandates regular inspections of gas piping systems in New York City buildings to detect and mitigate potential gas leaks, thereby preventing hazards such as explosions, fires, and carbon monoxide poisoning. This law, which took effect on January 1, 2021, requires that all commercial buildings and residential structures with three or more families undergo inspections every four years. These inspections must be conducted by a Licensed Master Plumber (LMP) or a qualified individual under LMP supervision, tailored to the specific Community District location. Ultimately, the goal is to ensure the safety and integrity of gas lines, protecting building occupants.
